Positive Psychology is the scientific study of what makes life most worth living. It is more than a focus on fleeting happiness or warm feelings. Rather, it places great emphasis on meaning, helping the patient search out their purpose and true fulfillment. Instead of focusing on dysfunction, it is a means of helping ordinary people reach their higher purpose. This does not mean denying negative emotions or that negative occurrences exist. Positive Psychology instead recognizes these facts, and that healthy individuals make room for such feelings in their life without them derailing their journey towards meaning.
