Meditation is a practice in mindfulness. While many think that it is the practice of “turning off one’s thoughts,” this actually isn’t true. Meditation is instead about learning to observe one’s thoughts and feelings from a place of no judgment so that you can make healthy assessments about what you are feeling. It is a path towards mental clarity and emotional stability that can be used to help treat a number of different issues. Meditation may be used alone or in conjunction with other forms of treatment that move the patient towards the same goal of mental health.
